Antique Tlingit Stickeen Haida Native American Painted Ceremonial Dance Paddles

Antique Tlingit Stickeen Haida Native American Painted Ceremonial Dance Paddles. Today we are happy to offer for sale a rare pair of early Tlingit Ceremonial Paddles!

These wonderful antique paddles would have belonged to a member of Stikine (Tlingit) tribe. The Stikine/Stikeen River would have been accessed by this tribe. These beautiful and delicate wooden paddles date to the late 19th century and are beautifully made. They feature hand-carved handles and hand-painted red and black tribal designs.

The pair features the rares and highly sought-after notched "V" handle. The really special thing about this set is that the original labels remain!

The paddles are connected by a small metal nail in the center, allowing them to fold behind each other or display in an "X" pattern. Paddles present in good antique condition, with wear and patina commensurate with age.

There is minor loss to painted finish, and scattered pinholes in the wood. A minimal amount of wood has worn away on one of the paddle's tips, and part of the end of each handle is missing. The set will make an outstanding addition to any fine antique Native American artifact collection. Fresh to the market from a Providence, RI estate!

Dimensions (measured closed): 28-1/2" in length, 3-3/4" in width (widest point of paddle). Item(s) will be professionally packed to prevent damage in transit.
